Encourages parents to give help and support to their children. We believe that an active P.T.F.A. is the best way to nurture parental interest in education. The P.T.F.A. Meetings and Social Events and Activities provide parents, teachers and children with an opportunity to develop mutual trust and confidence. The PTFA has supported the school over many years by organising social events and fundraising activities. The PTFA's membership of parents, teachers and friends works as part of a busy team in partnership with pupils, staff and governors within the school, supporting many school activities. The PTFA is strong in membership and very proactive in school issues, and recently been positively involved in school refurbishment plans. Parents have helped practically on a voluntary basis by painting many classrooms. This direct action has made a difference to the environment and impacted positively on school life for all.
St. Patrick's RC Comprehensive has 545 pupils, whom attend from the three parishes of St. Patrick's, Thornaby, Christ the King, Thornaby and St. Therese, Ingleby Barwick. We also have pupils who attend from the Church of England Parish. There are four feeder primary schools from the previously named parishes within Thornaby and Ingleby Barwick.
The size of St. Patrick's school enables both staff and pupils to be acknowledged as valuable individuals and to worship as one community. The relationship between the school and the three parishes adds another positive dimension to the support provided by both staff and pupils at the school.
St. Patrick's School aims to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at school and in society. It also aims to prepare pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experience of adult life. St. Patrick's has always been proud of its ability to develop teamwork and co-operation between staff, parents, parishioners and governors. Indeed this partnership has be the success of the school over many years. There are many community groups which access the school out of school hours. St. Patrick's is very much a great part of the local community of Thornaby, and is supported by a great variety of local people and local organisations.

WILDLIFE AND MEMORIAL GARDENS BENEFITING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY
Recently we have sourced external funding via several local community grants to improve the schools environment by creating a Wildlife Garden within the school grounds. The following images show the children's input into the Garden
Caring Learning and Sharing for Parents Parenting Project (CLASP) Our major achievement this year, was a Millennium Award of £9000 for a Parenting Project in school. A group of parents created CLASP-Caring, Learning and Sharing for Parents. We meet on a regular basis in school, and have recently sent out a questionnaire to all parents for their views. We have organised two presentations-an excellent Exam Stress presentation given by Jan O'Neill and an excellent Drug and Alcohol Presentation given by Neil Hamilton of the Drugs Education Team. Four members have attended a network meeting Celebration at Southwark Cathedral in London. We are busy ordering new equipment with our new funding, and we held another presentation in September on Self Esteem. We attended a Link & Learn Event at the International Centre for Life in Newcastle in January, where the Millennium Bridge was lit and tilted especially for the Award winners. We are also to order £3000 worth of Learning Packs for pupils to use as a resource to learning in school and home.
